Remember Songs We Wish We Wrote You — the ongoing covers and remixes series from East Bay electronic pop duo James & Evander? Dating back to 2009, J&E have reworked the music of Silian Rail, Michael Jackson, Grand Lake, Why? and others; they’re planning a fourth installment for release this year!

J&E is offering up this teaser track from Vol. 4: a smooth as butter rendition of Alicia Keys’ “Unthinkable” which we are proud to debut today. Vol. 4 is one of many exciting projects on the band’s agenda for 2012 — add in their debut record on Velvet Blue Music, and a 7-inch on Gold Robot.

James & Evander play this Friday at a new ongoing “First Friday” concert series in Oakland at The Sanctuary (8pm, sliding scale $5-15).
