We’ve experimented with different sorts of music pairing events over the years. Bands and crafts. Bands and food. Bands and art. Bands and mixtapes. But behind all of those, there’s one pairing we’ve been dreaming about for years: bands and beer.
As much as we enjoy a good tall boy, The Bay Bridged has a serious love for the Bay Area’s great local craft breweries. Bands and beers go together like, well, bands and beers, and we’ve long wanted to throw an event combining the best of both worlds.
Introducing The Bay Brewed, coming to The Verdi Club in San Francisco on Saturday, December 3rd from 2-7pm. Think of it as a beer festival for indie rock and roll fans, or a rock and roll festival for beer connoisseurs.
Either way, here’s the deal: your ticket purchase includes performances by four great local rock bands — Weekend, Sleepy Sun, Extra Classic, and Terry Malts — and a commemorative mug that gets you unlimited beer tastings all day long from an array of awesome local breweries. In partnership with the City Beer Store and the SF Brewers Guild, you’ll be sampling beer from and meeting the brewers behind 21st Amendment, Anchor Brewing, Ale Industries, Beach Chalet, Drake’s Brewing, Lagunitas, Magnolia, Marin Brewing Company, Social Kitchen & Brewery, and Speakeasy. Plus, you’ll be able to purchase some delicious local food from Rosamunde Sausage Grill, a place that knows a little something about what hungry beer drinkers like to eat.
The Bay Brewed is no normal show. It’s an opportunity to enjoy the best of two areas of local excellence. We hope you’ll join us for an event that has been years in the making for The Bay Bridged. We are really, really excited for this.
About the bands:
Playing engaging noise pop with a punk intensity, Weekend tops The Bay Brewed fresh off a performance at the 2011 Treasure Island Music Festival. The band’s recent Red EP contains some of the group’s best work yet, and they’re equally known for loud, intense live shows.
Weekend – Hazel by Slumberland Records
Sleepy Sun‘s mind-bending, psychedelic rock and fiery live sets have earned them international acclaim, and The Bay Brewed is the band’s first SF show after a US tour this fall.
Extra Classic released their terrific debut album, Your Light Like White Lightning, Your Light Like A Laser Beam, last month on Manimal Vinyl. The psychedelic dub rock band recently toured the West Coast with Moonface.
Extra Classic – “Give Them the Same”
Known for consistently great live shows (and two excellent 7″s on Slumberland), you won’t want to miss SF punk/power pop trio Terry Malts kicking off The Bay Brewed.
