Treasure Island 2011 is this weekend! Night shows this week too!

We’ll be spending a bunch of time this week exploring the many prospective highlights of this weekend’s 2011 Treasure Island Music Festival, and the fest is our top recommendation for the week. In addition to the two days on the Island, there are a bunch of night shows to check out, including The Drums, Thao with The Get Down Stay Down (with Bare Wires and The She’s) and more.

Thee Oh Sees performing free show at the Brick and Mortar Music Hall on Thursday

Prior to the band’s appearance kicking off Treasure Island’s Sunday festivities, Thee Oh Sees will be playing a free show at the Brick and Mortar Music Hall this Thursday, October 13th (6-9pm, 21+). RSVP here to get in.

EMA headlines The Independent on Wednesday

EMA is former Gowns singer Erika M. Anderson, whose debut album, Past Life Martyred Saints, was released earlier this year. Anderson’s band joins Sister Crayon at The Independent on October 12th (8pm, $12).

Cults performs a free show at UC Berkeley

Between two nights at The Fillmore with Foster the People, Cults will be performing a free show at Lower Sproul Plaza in Berkeley. You can catch the band’s warm indie pop on Friday, October 14th at noon.
