Frisco Freakout returns: psych-fueled benefit show at Thee Parkside on Saturday

Local psych rock bands converge on Thee Parkside this Saturday for the fourth annual Frisco Freakout, a day-long, all ages fest benefiting Creativity Explored. The bill includes Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound, Carlton Melton, The Imajinary Friends (ex-Brian Jonestown Massacre, first show in 15 years), and Harderships (including Isaiah Mitchell of Earthless), but the most interesting set of the day might be the debut of Wicked Mace, a trio that includes Comets on Fire’s Ethan Miller and Noel Harmonson.

Girls’ homecoming shows at the Great American

With Father, Son, Holy Ghost receiving universal acclaim, Girls‘ national tour concludes with two nights at the Great American Music Hall on October 8th and 9th. I saw the band at FYF Fest and was impressed by how the new songs sounded live. The inclusion of Sonny and the Sunsets on both nights’ bills just makes both dates that much more tempting.

Fresh & Onlys return from Europe, playing with Tamaryn and Wax Idols

Speaking of homecomings, local shows by The Fresh & Onlys are getting fewer and farther between these days. The band just returned from a European tour and will be co-headlining a stacked bill with Tamaryn and Wax Idols opening at the Great American Music Hall on Friday, October 7th. A tip for you: check out our happy hour show then head over to Great American for an awesome night.
