Last Wednesday the Rickshaw was packed with those celebrating the release of Tim Cohen’s new LP The Glad Birth of Love, as well as the tentatively labeled “farewell show” for longtime indie pop Bay Area band Magic Bullets.
In recent years, new members have come into Magic Bullets and their set has evolved as a result, but, for this special evening, they also performed a few old songs. Their set opened with a hit from the early years, “Heatstroke” – which has the fun fact of being licensed for the 2007 Lisa Kudrow movie, Kabluey. Later, the band threw in “Yesterday’s Seen Better Days” from their first LP, a CHILD but in life yet a DOCTOR in love (2007).
