Earlier this year, Texas “stonegaze” band True Widow released the terrific, brooding album, As High As The Highest Heavens And From The Center To The Circumference Of The Earth. I’m not normally someone who digs heavy music (and I’m not even well-versed enough in the category to feel confident labeling the band as such), but As High As The Highest Heavens… packs plenty of melody, making the band reminiscent of a fuzzier, stonier Low. If that sounds good to you, check out True Widow at the Rickshaw Stop on September 3rd, and at Oakland’s Merchant’s Saloon on the 7th.
