While many tens of thousands will be spending their weekends in Golden Gate Park, if you aren’t planning on attending Outside Lands, that doesn’t mean you’re out of luck on the live music front. Below, five ways to check out local music this weekend.

Total Trash Fest 3 continues this week with a series of shows in spaces around Oakland, with names like The Wrong Words, Spencey Dude and The Doodles, and The Mantles offering plenty of great local representation. Joining them at various shows are King Tuff, Audacity, and San Diego garage poppers Christmas Island. Check out the full schedule for more details.

Christmas Island – “Poisoner”

Bronze and Erase Errata join forces at El Rio on Friday. As the Guardian profiled this week, Bronze has a full length album coming in September, and Erase Errata has recently returned to activity with Jenny Hoyston’s return to the Bay Area.

Local bands Yesway and Sands support psychy folk-rock band Califone at Bottom of the Hill on Friday night, as Sands gears up for the release of a new EP.

On the heels of the announcement of Cheap Perfume, coming October 18th, Bare Wires headline the Hemlock on Sunday, joined by Natural Child and Liquor Store.

SMiLE! hosts a night of psych-pop at The Knockout on Friday night, with The Soft Bombs, The Aerosols, These Hills of Gold, and Skystone.
