Man/Miracle – “Meditations on Nothing”

Here’s a brand new song from Oakland’s Man/Miracle, one of our favorite bands and a group you won’t want to miss at Saturday’s Phono del Sol Festival.

There’s been a lot going on in the M/M camp lately: new recordings, an upcoming cross-country tour, and a change in the band’s lineup. To explain the new song and the group’s plans, band member Dylan Travis gave us the following comment:

This song is called “Meditations on Nothing” and it’s about times when you are riding your bike, or driving a car, or painting, or doing something when your mind is clear and free of concern and the horrors of life in amerikkka in the 2010s. It’s going to be released for free on August 23rd with two more awesome songs, and then we’re putting it out on a cassette with even more songs soon thereafter. It was recorded by Adam Myatt at his house in West Oakland where we smoked a great deal of illegal substances and ate strawberry shortcake from bakesale betty’s, or at least I did. I also ate their tofu sandwich which kind of a ripoff, but their shortcake makes up for it. Eli Crews mixed the song. It’s our first release as a 3-piece… our good friend and bassist Brian Kennedy is leaving the band to exist as a human being without having to play loud rocknroll shows every other weekend or go on long drives with a bunch of dudes who like to endlessly imitate Scott Stapp in the van (although brian is just as guilty of this as any of us which he will freely admit). Phono del Sol will be our last show with him. Adios Brian, we love you dude.

M/M forever
