“I Know It” and “Sundew” make up the first single from White Cloud‘s most recent studio visit, available to stream on their Bandcamp site. White Cloud recorded a batch of songs with Jason Kick of Maus Haus that they will likely unveil via their Facebook page, until plans are announced for the full-length release.
White Cloud has always done their own thing, which is admirable: the band members switch instruments mid-set, and build on one another’s qualities for some really stellar post-rock/shoegaze style jams. Together as one, this fresh pair of songs effloresce — building up those robust, reverb-happy guitar lines, bursting into rounds of vocals or a segmented dancy bassline. There’s this strange, subtle echo of Robin Pecknold under all those vocals, though nothing else about either of these tracks really could pass as Fleet Foxes-influenced.
White Cloud’s next show is June 25 at Bottom of the Hill with The Wooden Birds (yes, the American Analog Set spawn!) and The Definite Articles (9pm, $10). Don’t worry – we’ll send out another reminder closer to the show.
