Dirty Ears

After much consideration, we’d like to announce the winner of our contest with Tiny Telephone to celebrate the launch of TT’s B Room, Minitel. Congratulations to Dirty Ears, a group of mostly-17-year-olds eager to make their first studio recording. The sextet began with songwriters Dylan Marx and Jack Radsliff, who have written folk-rock songs, performed as buskers, and distributed their songs on local compilations; after gathering a full band, they’re now eager to capture the group’s sound in Minitel’s analog environs.

Here’s a Dirty Ears song written by Dylan:

Over a dozen applications were submitted by a variety of talented young local groups, and we’d like to thank all of them for applying and making the decision to pick a winner a very difficult one. It’s extremely encouraging to know that the Bay Area music scene’s talent pool extends to its youngest members.

We’ll be checking in with Dirty Ears during their recording time at Minitel and reporting back here. Thanks again to John Vanderslice and Tiny Telephone for offering the studio time, and to house engineer Jamie Riotto and the Magik*Magik Orchestra, who will be helping Dirty Ears in the studio.
