Our first take of Wet Illustrated was when they kickstarted our 2011 Noise Pop Happy Hour into high gear with a loud, jocular opening set, driven by drummer Robbie Simon calling out vocals from the back of the stage. They made having fun look like rock’n’roll — a startling, yet perfectly chosen opener. “Gypsy Town” is one of two songs Wet Illustrated posted to their Facebook page yesterday, to be released on an upcoming LP. We suspect more information will emerge on either their Facebook page or blog, as it becomes available.

Wet Illustrated plays the Knockout this Friday with Wrong Words, The Mantles and LENZ from Oakland. Also just announced is a May 15 show at Cafe du Nord with R. Stevie Moore and Tropical Ooze.
