Snob Theater 4/8/11

One year ago, Shawn Robbins of Kata Rokkar launched Snob Theater, an event series pairing local comedians and musicians at the Dark Room. The small setting of the theater (around 50 seats) encourages an intimate experience for both audience member and performer – something that’s difficult to get at a typical concert, especially one with an above-average number of performers.

Since the inception of Snob Theater, a variety of talent has graced the Dark Room stage: musicians such as Sean Hayes, Emily Jane White, Birdmonster, Picture Atlantic, etc., and comedians such as Moshe Kasher, W. Kamau Bell, Kevin Avery, Brent Weinbach, Alex Koll and many more. Additionally, Snob Theater saw a spot at this year’s Noise Pop Festival, as well as the Bridgetown Comedy Festival.

The 1-year anniversary of Snob Theater takes place this Friday, April 8th at the Dark Room (10:00 pm, $10 – tickets available via Brown Paper Tickets). Sonny Pete and Il Gato will be providing the music, and Will Franken, Mary Van Note, Natasha Muse, and Jules Posner will provide the comedy. More information about all the performers can be found over at Kata Rokkar.
