Ticket sales for Saturday’s show at the Rickshaw with Bart Davenport, Sic Alps, The Mumlers, The Moore Brothers and Big Eagle go to a very worthy cause: Big Eagle’s singer Robyn Miller’s mother is fighting ovarian cancer. In addition to the show, a blog has been set up for a silent auction; find out more details about how to donate to the event after the jump.

A letter from Robyn Miller:

Dear Friends,

My mother has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer which has spread to her stomach. In order to treat this she has started an intense routine treatment of chemotherapy and is scheduled to have surgery in San Francisco around Christmas.

I’ve decided that the best thing I could do to help in this situation was to throw a benefit and bring attention to the disease, as well as help out with some medical bills and celebrate my awesome Mom!

Please come out and support the cause. Ovarian cancer is one of the most mysterious and deadly kinds of cancer to women of all ages and yet, while there are foundations for breast cancer and others up the wazoo, there is not one specific foundation that is devoted to the awareness of Ovarian cancer, its treatment, prevention or specific financial aid for its victims.
Not much is known of it and in most cases it goes unnoticed until it is too late.

As well as organizing a show for the cause, I am also going to be hosting a silent auction of services and goods from my friends and family. This is where you come in! I’m looking for donations of goods and services to be raffled off in a silent auction throughout the night. If you are interested in donating to the cause, we would be delighted! There are already services from salons in the bay area as well as a handmade quilt, necklaces and a beautiful sculpture by the artist herself donated. The more the better!

If you would like to donate to the cause please contact the donations coordinator Courtney Skinner at Courtney.skinner@gmail.com, or email the event coordinator Zoë Gholson at zoegolden@gmail.com.

Let’s bring some attention to this and celebrate the awesome woman who brought me in to this crazy world!

Thank you all for your friendships, you are very appreciated
xo Robyn
