A new country-rock band has spawned from the talented depths of Port O’Brien. Former POB bandmates Zebedee Zaitz and Joshua Barnhart have formed Sparrows Gate, who have been quietly making waves by sharing the stage with the likes of Vetiver, Sleepy Sun, J. Tillman, The Mother Hips, and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, all within the past year.
Sparrows Gate – “Caught Me By Surprise”
“Caught Me By Surprise” is a lovely and warm introduction to the band, full of classic country hooks and soft slide guitar. Sparrows Gate have their debut EP out now (self-titled), which can be purchased via iTunes. The band will be playing at The Crepe Place in Santa Cruz on October 16th with Phosphorescent and Little Wings (9:00 pm, $10).
