Wednesday at Viracocha, there’s a dual release party for Birds & Batteries‘ Chasing the Moon episode, as well as the official release of Sword + Sandals‘ debut album, Good & Plenty, out on local label Empty Cellar. In addition to the podcast screening, live music will be provided byThe Up Died Sound (NYC), Pillars & Tongues, Joseph Childress and WR/DS (8pm, $7-10 suggested donation).
Sword + Sandals is the latest project from John Dywer (Thee Oh Sees) along with artist Shaun O’Dell and Randy Lee Sutherford — both of whom also play in the similar sounding free-jazz project, WR/DS. Good & Plenty is a collection of free-jazz experimentation that happened when the three indulged in an all-day, 16-microphone session which was recorded to 1-inch tape. To get a feel for the band, there are some live recordings posted on their site.
