25 years of the Jewish Music Festival, right here in San Francisco. The silver anniversary of the event has been going on since March, and is now ready to wrap up with a show featuring Watcha Clan and Charming Hostess:
Watcha Clan, with the Bay Area’s own Charming Hostess, the finale of the 25th Jewish Music Festival and part of New Frequencies, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Sunday, July 18. Watcha Clan is a nomadic, genre-bending band fronted by the charismatic Sistah K, showcasing Berber, Algerian, Sephardi, Ashkenazi and French influences. The group has created an original mix of Mediterranean sounds and electronica, with a strong political voice. Opening for them will be the Bay Area’s own Charming Hostess, renowned for eerie harmony, hot rhythm and radical braininess.
This show will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts this Sunday, July 18th (8:00 pm; tickets are $25, with half-price tickets available as well).
