Just a brief reminder about this great show happening THIS SUNDAY NIGHT at Cafe Du Nord. Emily Jane White is one of our favorite local singer-songwriters, and she’s celebrating the release of her second full length of gothic folk-rock, titled Victorian America, out now on Milan Records. Emily’s a terrific live performer and the show is rounded out by a couple of very talented Bay Area bands.
We are giving away a pair of tickets to this show! To enter send an email to contest@thebaybridged.com with your full name and the phrase “I want to see Emily Jane White!” in the subject line. The THIRD person to enter will win!

At this show, Emily Jane White celebrates the release of Victorian America and the kick-off of her latest tour. You won’t want to miss the chance to see one of her enchanting live shows. “Victorian America is a beautiful album: haunting, passionate and well-crafted. It’s a little bit country, a little bit folk, a little bit indie and a lot of heart.” (The Owl Mag) “White gives her wounds names and turns them into living characters, able to break hearts or carry axes. She personifies and abstracts them…” (The Fader) “White has a voice that is luxuriously dark and peaceful, strumming her guitar with ease and an ear for both a poetic line and a musical phrase.” (LA Record)
Slow Motion Cowboys feature Pete Fields from Trainwreck Riders, and the band delivered an impressive Chasing the Moon session late last year. As the group describes it: “Influenced by old stories and new adventures, the sound pulls you into the kitchen, the coast or memories of past kisses when you sat and sang by a wood burning stove. Though SMC performs almost strictly original music, the songwriting draws willingly from old-time bluegrass, folk, and other outlaw country pickers.”
Local trio Devotionals recently completed work on their debut album for release later this year. The band is comprised of Tyson Vogel (Two Gallants), Anton Patzner (Judgement Day), and Jeff Blaire, and they characterize their music as, “Giving a nod of reverence to what has come before in forms of Rachmaninov to John Fahey, to the unknown echos of the street musician, these songs, in form mostly instrumental, represent only the beat of the heart, and the ache to understand.”
