More than I’d like to admit, I calendar a prospective gallery opening to attend, miss the reception, and assure myself, “the show’s up for a month, I’ll get around to seeing it.” In these situations, thankfully I can scan KQED’s Gallery Crawl for a virtual visit to various Bay Area gallery shows. The monthly video series’ latest episode explored Gallery 16‘s show for Sonny Smith‘s 100 Records project. 100 Records is up until the end of May, but Gallery Crawl supplements the show, going behind-the-scenes with its creator, and shedding biographical light on the gallery space itself.
The Gallery Crawl series dates back to 2006, including tours of many of the Bay Area’s art-and-show spaces: Adobe Books, SPACE Gallery and Oakland’s Mama Buzz Cafe. For a full archive of episodes by date or venue, visit Gallery Crawl’s page.
