This Sunday at the Hemlock isn’t a local bill, per se, but includes some fine acts out of the Los Angeles area which border traditional folk and blues: The Silent Comedy, Mississippi Man and Frank Fairfield (9pm, $7).

Take Frank Fairfield, who compelled Matt Popieluch of Foreign Born (sidenote: Noise Pop 2010 act) to the point of managing him. Fairfield’s young — his debut on Tompkins Square just out this fall — and undoubtedly stuck in the wrong decade. He sounds and looks like a Soggy Bottom Boy and stores the back catalog of traditional folk ballads in the tips of his fingers.

The Silent Comedy and Mississippi Man are on a West Coast tour, dates as well as additional info on their “Mustache Mayhem” project can be found on TSC’s MySpace.
