A week or two ago, this Sunday’s 20 Minute Loop show at Bottom of the Hill turned into the last 20 Minute Loop show. Forever. One of the Bay’s longest-running indie pop bands, the group released a series of smart, winning albums that earned them significant acclaim and we are definitely sad to see them go. You can listen to the group’s complete catalog at Bandcamp, and their newest album Famous People Marry Famous People is streaming above.

Sunday afternoon’s show (1pm, $8, All Ages) also features locals True Margrit (celebrating the release of their new CD, The Juggler’s Progress) and Griddle. Below, a statement from 20ML founder Greg Giles on the group’s web site regarding the breakup:

20 Minute Loop is breaking up.

We’ve been a band in one form or another for over ten years, pushing through various difficulties and enjoying very modest rewards, until the day has arrived when there is no way to continue, at least not a way that can outmaneuver those notorious real-life contingencies that typically mean the death of most bands.

Rest assured, if there were any compelling reasons to continue, they would be the support and recognition many of you have given us for such a long time. In fact, with zero remuneration, we have found that two facts have kept us crawling along:

1) We love the music.

2) We love the friends we made through the music.

Our thanks to you for giving us a good time. For what it’s worth, every member of 20 Minute Loop still loves every other member of 20 Minute Loop. That’s not what this is about.

Well… my time is up.
