Local institution Alternative Tentacles Records celebrates its thirtieth anniversary this year. Beginning with The Dead Kennedys’ “California Uber Alles” single in June 1979, the label has since released over 400 records from a diverse roster of talented bands. AT is still going strong in 2009, with recent releases from Turn Me On Dead Man, Alice Donut, Star Fucking Hipsters, and Jello Biafra’s latest project, Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine, which also features members of Victims Family and Faith No More.

Alternative Tentacles is celebrating its thirty years with a three day “Incest-A-Thon” at the Great American Music Hall from November 5th through the 7th. Biafra and the Guantanamo School headline all three nights, and they’ll be joined by a different set of AT artists each night. Thursday includes Citizen Fish, Star Fucking Hipsters, and MIA. Friday features Ludicra, Munly & the Lupercalians, and Knights of the New Crusade. Saturday brings Alice Donut, Victims Family, and Burning Image. Each show starts at 8pm, and is $20/22 and all ages. Three-day passes are also available.

To help Alternative Tentacles celebrate its thirty years, we’re holding a contest to give away a pair of passes to all three thirtieth anniversary shows! Second prize is a $50 credit to Alternative Tentacles’ online store!
