There’s two parts to a great show – an awesome venue and awesome music. You’ll find both of those tomorrow night when Geographer plays Cafe Du Nord. An East Coast transplant, frontman Mike Deni brings some eclectic indie rock sounds with an always-on pop sensibility. Similarly, I’d be depriving you if I made no mention of Nathan Blaz’s always appropriate electric cello and the lone analog purest of the band (I’ve never seen him use a drum trigger of any sort), Brian Ostreicher on drums.

Throw in Cafe Du Nord, regularly offering good drink specials, and you’ve got a great date night for that indie chick or dude you’ve been eyeing. Just watch out for that first step, it’s a doozy.

Geographer performs with The Old-Fashioned Way, White Cloud, and 100 Swans at Cafe Du Nord on Thursday night. Doors at 9, $10.
