The 9th Annual Bike Film Festival is sweeping the country this summer with only the best taste in entertainment: bringing some of the sexiest music as well as cycling-related art and films, of course, spread across the city this week.

“BIKES ROCK!” is Tuesday and Wednesday night with Blonde Redhead — yes, you heard right — with Thee Oh Sees at the Independent, tickets still on sale ($25). Blonde Redhead, who sing in the same fine languages as some of the finest bicycle welders, are more than appropriate to headline with a local hosts as impressive as Thee Oh Sees.

Bay Areans should know that Thee Oh Sees have a handful of shows in the city up through the second week of August, then will embark on a US/Canada tour with The Fresh & Onlys, coming home in late October.

Also showing on Thursday from 6-10pm and through the weekend are two exhibits at Ever Gold Gallery and Market St. Gallery, featuring the work of a range of NYC artists, including the infamous Mike Giant.

A special note for East Bayers: it’s common knowledge that Bay Area bike polo in the industrial Oakland landscape is a serious enterprise, making perfect sense that the BFF is holding their first tournament at the reputable spot on Sunday to close up the fest. See their website for a complete schedule of the San Francisco and Oakland events.
