Hey, yourself. We Be the Echo is throwing a CD release at Hemlock this Friday (9pm, $7) with the well known producer Martin Bisi (NYC, worked with Brian Eno and Sonic Youth) as well as The Great Dictator (Portland).

I say they’s a rogue, dark-jedi threesome, mathrockers who have split from the Empire, taking their algebraic conscience with them. Put an abacus on your brain and again, bring your plugs, you, or else buy some when you get there. This is what your good friends at Wikipedia have to say about We Be the Echo:

“We Be the Echo is an American instrumental rock band from San Francisco. They play a blend of math rock, brutal prog, punk, jazz and heavy metal with dub influenced bass lines. The band’s sound is based on melodic and rhythmically challenging short songs that often incorporate shred guitar.” – Wikipedia

Whoever did the entry forgot to hyphenate “dub influenced” and forgot a comma after “challenging,” but whatever, that’s cool. It’s democratic enough, the above tidbit, but fails to recognize, however, that theirs are some of the most uncanny time-signature backflips you’ll find around town; also that Graeme is not sometimes, but always, a Master Shredder (on his TMNT) and that bassist Mike Stryker’s brand of funk is uber legit like D. Nowitski’s cannabis card.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
