One of the most reliably entertaining live bands in the Bay Area, Or, the Whale possess that endearing combination of superb musicianship and the ability to cut loose and have fun. The national re-release of Light Poles and Pines earlier this year on Seany Records kicked off a series of tours and country radio success. With a new album completed and awaiting release, we’re pleased to present the band’s homecoming performance from their recent West Coast tour.

About the bands:

Or, the Whale headline what’s sure to be an excellent night of music. “[F]ills its energetic, boot-stomping live shows with bluesy anthems and gut-wrenching ballads….[A] contagious fusion of timeless and traditional Americana” (Magnet) “This music will make you want to gather your friends together and hitchhike across America — If only America was as warm and beautiful as Light Poles and Pines.” (Yahoo! Music)

Country-rock band The Maldives have been steadily building a buzz as one of Seattle’s best bands. “[A]rguably the most promising roots act to emerge from the Northwest since the mid-’90s heyday of the Picketts” (No Depression) “[I]t’s easy to be drawn in by the band’s communal vibe, and it was difficult to resist singing and clapping along during its spirited performance. If you love Neil Young, The Band and The Flying Burrito Brothers, I highly recommend giving a listen to the soulful country-rock sounds” (KEXP)

Built For The Sea open the show with their layered, moving indie rock. “True to its name, San Francisco’s Built for the Sea crafts lush indie-rock that is at once dreamy, hypnotic, and emotionally powerful.” (East Bay Express) “This is without a doubt the best CD I’ve listened to all year. Built for the Sea…is mesmerizing and alluring. Do yourself a favor and check out this hot band on the rise.” (
