They’re trying to start the weekend early over at 46 Minna Street — the first Wednesday night of each month is Rumble over at Harlot. Expect drink specials, a blossoming dance floor and an absurdly wide array of live entertainment. Two bands will provide live performance: the extravagant rock pop of Django James (LA) as well as The Frail, an electronic trio marked by heavy beats and serene romanticized vocals (members share a common love for The Faint and Thom Yorke).

DJing every month is resident spinster DJ Bagel Ted of BAGeL Radio, and guests tonight will be Anthony of the local band Loquat and Amplive (aka Zion I). Amplive has a ton of free remixes available for download on his MySpace of Tokyo Police Club, Radiohead and more. Somehow, Amplive has made the Canadian youngsters of Tokyo Police Club to sound sexual and edgy, and pulls it off with class.

If you’re trying to save all your cash for drinks, the thing to do is RSVP online, else it’s a $5 cover at the door.
