As you have hopefully heard by now, Saturday is Record Store Day, when bands and labels of all genres team up with shops around the country to offer some special musical incentives to get you off your computer and into an actual store to buy music that’s been pressed onto a physical medium. A few years ago that idea of music you could hold in your hands didn’t sound all that nuts and some of us–ahem–still can’t switch to making many purchases through iTunes. All of this is to say why not stop by your local record store tomorrow and see if there’s anything that piques your interest?
Head to RecordStoreDay.com to check out a full list of the exclusive releases you’ll be able to find in stores tomorrow.
Many of the Bay Area’s record stores are having special events throughout the day. Amoeba has DJ sets from John Vanderslice, Kelley Stoltz, Kylee of Loquat, Aesop Rock, and more in San Francisco and Yoni Wolf (Why?) and others in Berkeley. Rasputin has Silversun Pickups performing at 4pm in their Berkeley store and Mister Loveless playing in Concord at 5pm.
