The Rickshaw Stop is throwing quite the Thursday: Devil Makes Three‘s Pete Bernhard makes a solo appearance tonight, along with two more local acts: Emily Jane White and the women acapella group Conspiracy of Venus.
One might expect a similar, stripped down version of DM3, but solo, Pete finds intimacy. His music softens the bite of DM3, but in a good way — engendering a more rustic, sincere traveling song (with harmonica, of course). April is his touring month!
Sample each song off his newest Things I Left Behind, for sale through CDBaby:

Expect all three sets to be stellar: Emily Jane White brings on the full band, as usual, including a cameo from Jake Mann and help from neighborhood cellist Jen Grady. Perhaps you’ve witnessed her grace with a other local musicians; she accompanies Garrett Pierce, Adam Stephens (Two Gallants), Sholi and many more.
But, wrap your head around the opening act, Conspiracy of Venus. They’re a community women’s choir (which means anyone is welcome to attend rehearsal) with a love for quality covers — Tom Waits, Björk and Leonard Cohen, to name a few. They’ll be performing in the Palace of Fine Arts next month as well.
Tonight’s show starts at 9 p.m. with an $8 cover at The Rickshaw Stop, located at 155 Fell Street.
