Amoeba Music and the East Bay Express will bring you back to Andy Warhol’s famous “factory” studio, with art, music and film in a divided warehouse space in Emeryville this Friday, March 6. The event is called “Factory Party” and will bring live silk screening, painting, filming, and screen tests as well as “iconic Factory furniture, artwork, and characters.”
For musical selections, the event will feature Velvet Underground cover band Nihilist Outlook and Grace and VU-inspired Exploding Plastic Amoeba.
The art show will consist of local artists Lori Katz, Billy Sprague and Russell Quan, whose styles range from nature paintings to sound installations. Check out the Amoeba page for full bios. And the film event will be a screening of 13 Most Beautiful… Songs for Andy Warhol’s Screen Tests, which we recently previewed.
The event takes place at 1343 Powell St. in Emeryville. It runs from 6pm-11pm, is all ages and free. You can choose to purchase a food and beverage sampling from local businesses for $10 to benefit Pro Arts. If you dress in 1960s attire, you’ll be eligible for a prize!
