Every month, we dedicate a week of our podcast to highlighting some of the great local and out-of-town bands performing soon in the San Francisco Bay Area. We’ve got ten great bands playing some excellent shows this month, so head out and see some live music!
About the bands:
San Diego’s The Muslims (“Beside Myself”) recently changed their name to The Soft Pack, which means their buzz-building The Muslims LP is no longer self-titled. They’ll be playing with The Morning Benders (Feature Podcast) and Miniature Tigers (Phoenix) at the Rickshaw Stop on Friday, December 5th.
San Francisco’s The Dilettantes (“Hole World”) headline a terrific all local rock-and-roll bill this Thursday, December 4th at Bottom of the Hill. They’ll be joined by Sir Lord Von Raven and The Parish.
Eulogies (“Two Can Play”) recently released a new vinyldisc EP titled Tempted To Do Nothing, and they’ve got a new full length upcoming in the Spring. The band opens for Longwave and Scrabbel at the Rickshaw Stop on Thursday, December 11th.
The Trophy Fire (“Dearly Departed”) co-headline the CD release party for A Foggy Holiday 2008 at Bottom of the Hill on Friday, December 5th. Also performing are The Heavenly States (Feature Podcast), The Federalists and I The Mighty.
Following the recent release of The Stand-Ins, Okkervil River (“Lost Coastlines”) frontman Will Sheff heads to San Francisco later this month for a “Talking Music” conversation and performance event at Herbst Theatre on Wednesday, December 17th and a solo performance at Cafe Du Nord on Friday, December 19th.
Having released The Lucky Ones earlier this year, Seattle stalwarts Mudhoney (“I’m Now”) come to the Bay Area on Friday, December 12th for a show at The Independent. Wooden Shjips (Feature Podcast) and SF Dirty Stealer are also on the bill.
San Francisco band Railcars (“Neon Lovers Glowing On A Dull and Dark Night”) headline a really strong and diverse bill at Bottom of the Hill on Tuesday, December 9th. Fellow locals Religious Girls and Halcyonaire also perform.
Oakland’s Subtle (“The Long Vein Of The Law”) have announced a plan to take some time off after their current tour, so you should catch them at The Independent on Thursday, December 11th. They’ll be supported by performances from Yoni Wolf (from Why?) and Forrest Day (acoustic).
Los Angeles trio The Happy Hollows (“Lieutenant”) recently released the new Imaginary EP which they’re giving away for free on their MySpace page. French Miami (Feature Podcast) and Master/Slave (Feature Podcast) join the group at Bottom of the Hill on Friday, December 19th.
SF garage-pop duo Sassy!!! (“Shake What Your Mama Gave You”) have a number of shows coming up this month, including a performance at the First Satanic Church’s annual Black X-Mass event at the Elbo Room on Thursday, December 25th. Additional performers are to be announced.
