In an incredible opportunity for a local band, The Lovely Public will be opening for British post-punk pioneers Wire tonight at The Fillmore.
After a brief hiatus as each member explored other projects, The Lovely Public is playing this show as well as Wiretap’s Anniversary party at Thee Parkside this Saturday.
If you’re unfamiliar with Wire, they were an integral part of the UK scene in the 70s, and have since been credited with fomenting the popularity of post-punk. Their sound has changed throughout the years (including a few poppy 80s hits), but they remain a bastion of the art of fluid musical creativity. They released their new album Object 47 in July.
Should be an amazing show blending the old and new of experimental, atmospheric music. The all-ages show starts at 8pm and costs $25.
