There are interesting CD release parties on both sides of the Bay this Friday night. Over in Berkeley, The New Trust (Feature Podcast) celebrate the release of their third album Get Vulnerable at 924 Gilman. The trio’s heavy melodic rock draws from the intensity of 90s indie/emo to create compact anthem-bombs that fit well with Josh Staples’ politically-minded narratives. The show starts at 8pm and also features Build Us Airplanes, Cannons And Clouds, Spires and The Americas.

Friday’s also the CD release party for the debut EP from San Francisco’s Photons. The songs on their MySpace page showcase a lo-fi indie pop that reminds me a little of Television Personalities (a good thing) only with a more driving melodic sensibility. The show’s at House of Shields at 9pm, and also features Seaquencer and The Jonah Kit.
