This Saturday, Sept. 13, is a launch party for an exciting new project aiming to help local bands succeed with design. The project, called SF Intercom, was initiated by Stefan Aronsen, a local designer and friend to many local bands.

Aronsen’s inspiration for the project came from seeing many independent bands struggle with design, yet not have the funds to make themselves more visually appealing. He outlines the three goals of the project on the MySpace page as: “Provide musicians with knowledge that encourages viable growth,” “Make local music more accessible to audience” and “Solidify the importance of design in the local independent music scene.”

The launch party will feature “art inspired by music” will feature art by Aronsen and David T. Becker. It could be a great opportunity for local bands, media and designers to mingle and share advice. Check it out Saturday night from 5pm-7pm at The Art Explosion (744 Alabama) in San Francisco. It’s free!
