After local and national music writers alike drooled over their first album Light Poles and Pines for months, the band just kept giving us more, with one of the most exciting live shows in the area and frequent appearances ranging from local radio shows to Good Morning America. More recently, as news surfaced that the band was back in the studio working on their second full-length album, Or, The Whale was interviewed pretty comprehensively by Miss Ess at Amoeba and singer/guitarist Alex Robins was interviewed on Crawdaddy.

According to their MySpace page, the band is indeed working on a new album, and will do an intensive recording stint in November of this year. For the die-hards, songs to appear on the album include “Rusty Gold,” “Terrible Pain,” “Black Rabbit,” “Givin’ up Time,” “Shasta,” “No Love Blues,” “Datura,” “William James,” “No Death” and “Lookout Mountain.” You’re sure to start hearing about the album here during the holidays or early next year.

Be sure to stop by their show this Friday before they disappear into the studio for a few months. The show starts at 9pm and costs $13 in advance and $15 at the door.
