Joint LA/SF quintet Darker My Love will release their new album “2” tomorrow, August 5 on Dangerbird Records, and commemorate it with a show at The Independent tomorrow night.
The band has been getting some attention lately for their dense rock and roll, including an upcoming tour slot with The Dandy Warhols, play on MTV’s Subterranean and the #2 most played slot on CMJ. The songs bring up hints of Pink Floyd as well as some characteristic bands of the 90s for a fresh but familiar sound as a whole.
The band is releasing “2” as both a CD and a full-length vinyl, and partnering both with a free 7″. The CD version has a different track order than the vinyl, and features essays by Jon Landau, David Leaf and Peter Buck. But the coolest part? You can hear the entire album on their MySpace before you buy it.
Throughout September the band will be on tour with The Dandy Warhols, with The Upsidedown opening each of those shows (unfortunately none of which is in the Bay Area, but oh well). You can read updates on the Darker My Love blog, and you can buy their new album in CD or vinyl format from insound here.
Check out the show tomorrow night, where they’ll be joined by The Lumerians and Eulogies (LA). It starts at 9pm and costs $9.99 (which includes a copy of the new CD).
