Talking Through Tin Cans

The Morning Benders certainly are one of the most booming local bands at the moment, with appearances in music publications across the country, and an upcoming tour with UK sensations The Kooks. The +1 Records band has won the hearts of teen girls in particular with their (sometimes sentimental) indie pop that fits right onto the bootstraps of recently successful bands like The Shins.

This Friday, May 9, the Morning Benders will play their Bay Area record release show at 330 Ritch. The album, Talking Through Tin Cans, was released just yesterday. Here’s a sample:

The band has been interviewed by everyone lately, so you can learn everything you’ve ever wanted to know about them online. Adrian from ipickmynose did an interview with singer/guitarist Chris Chu, which he posted on his blog just yesterday. The Trip Wire has a quirky little interview posted, and Little Radio has one as well.

Aside from interviews, the band was recently featured in iTunes’ Indie Spotlight, and their acoustic video for the song “Crosseyed” was on the YouTube front page this week. It’ll make you melt:

See you at 330 Ritch Friday. The show starts at 8pm and if you buy the digital album on the +1 Records site, you can just print out the confirmation and get into the show for free. Sounds like a deal to me.
