This week’s podcast spotlights some of the great local and out-of-town acts playing shows in the Bay Area during the month of May. Check out our feature podcast episodes on some of these excellent bands!
Supporting their new Absolutely Kosher release Into The Trees, Chicago’s Sybris (“Oh Man!”) will be headlining May 29th at the Rickshaw Stop. They’ll be joined by The Brunettes and Unwed Sailor.
The New Centuries (“Some By Betrayal”) have a new EP titled Paradise Massage out this month and are playing at the Hemlock Tavern on May 24th. The great, all-local bill is rounded out by The Dont’s (Feature Podcast) and Man/Miracle (Feature Podcast).
Despite some serious injury-related setbacks, Brooklyn’s Pela (“Lost to the Lonesome”) continue their cross-country tour with a stop at Bottom of the Hill. The show’s on May 28th and includes performances from locals The Love X Nowhere and Audio Out Send (Feature Podcast).
With a new covers album titled Thing of the Past, San Francisco’s Vetiver (“Busted”) headline a great folk and rock show at the Great American Music Hall on May 6th. Kelley Stoltz Band and The Mumlers also perform.
Springfield, Missouri-based Someone Still Loves You, Boris Yeltsin (“Think I Wanna Die”) are touring behind their new album Pershing. They’re playing a terrific show with Port O’Brien (Feature Podcast) and Girls on May 14th at the Rickshaw Stop.
Bay Bridged favorites The Blacks (“Raincoat”) (Feature Podcast) team up with fellow favorites Von Iva (Feature Podcast) for a rocking show on May 23rd at Bottom of the Hill. The Bruises and Astra Heights also perform.
Rademacher (“What Yr Used To Back At Home (live)”) headline a strong bill at the Make-Out Room on May 11th, with support from El Olio Wolof and The Boxing Lesson (Austin).
Silian Rail (“Titled”) (Feature Podcast) will be performing at a stacked all-local show at the Great American Music Hall on May 17th. It’s the CD release party for the Rose Hill Collective‘s Volume 2 compilation and also includes Built For The Sea, Overview, The Hundred Days and Cold Hot Crash.
Seattle’s The Cave Singers (“Seeds of Night”) return to the Bay Area for a stop at The Independent on May 22nd. They’ll join The Botticellis (Feature Podcast) and fellow Seattle-ites Triumph of Lethargy Skinned Alive to Death.
Oakland- and Sacramento-based Wallpaper (“Evrytm we do it”) have a new EP out on Eenie Meenie Records. They headline their CD release party on May 8th at the Rickshaw Stop, alongside Sugar & Gold (Feature Podcast) and Hot Tub.
