There’s quite the show over at Bottom of the Hill this Thursday, as BAGeL Radio presents a dual CD release party for Ex-Boyfriends and Audio Out Send.

We interviewed Ex-Boyfriends last year as part of an hour-long podcast also featuring Music for Animals. At that time, the trio was continuing to receive strong reviews for their debut album Dear John, and they eventually found themselves as runners-up in Spin Magazine’s “Artist of the Year” competition. The band’s sophomore release In With came out last week on Absolutely Kosher Records and the songs we’ve heard indicate it picks up on all of the winning tendencies that made their last album an excellent mix of rock and power pop.

Thursday’s show is also a CD release party for Oakland’s Audio Out Send, who are celebrating the release of their new album Sharpen the Hours. As the band explained to us in our recent interview, the new CD represents a certain departure from the band’s more textured prior works. Sharpen the Hours is currently a limited hand-numbered release, with each copy featuring individualized artwork.
