One of our favorite sources for new music, UC Berkeley’s KALX 90.7FM, is celebrating 45 years of broadcasting with a fundraiser concert this Thursday night at the Rickshaw Stop featuring an incredible bill of local music. It’s one of those concerts we’re jealous that we’re not putting on but it should be a ton of fun to attend.
Our love for performers Greg Ashley, Sugar & Gold and Social Studies has been well documented on this site, but we encourage you to check out our podcast episodes on each of them:

Self-described “punk-funk party rock” trio Chow Nasty top the bill with their uptempo sounds. The band released its debut full length Super (Electrical) Recordings earlier this year. You can hear some tracks at their MySpace page and web site.
The show starts at 8pm and is $10. Whether you can make it or not, you should also consider donating to KALX. Even though their fundraiser week just finished, they’re still accepting pledges and there are some pretty sweet gifts up for grabs, like a double 7″ with exclusive KALX recordings from Talking Heads and others.
