It’s a pretty crazy week for local music (see our Calendar for more), including the release of two anticipated new CDs today:

60 Watt Kid’s self-titled album
San Francisco’s 60 Watt Kid release their debut full length today on Absolutely Kosher. We included some of the group’s experimental pop in last week’s mix show and you can hear more below and at their web site.
The band’s CD release party is this Wednesday night at the Rickshaw Stop, with Little Teeth and Snowblink. The show starts at 8pm and is $8. After the show, 60 Watt Kid and Little Teeth are heading on a joint West Coast tour. Visit 60 Watt Kid’s MySpace page for all of the dates.

Citay’s Little Kingdom
Citay has been a favorite around here since their self-titled debut album caught our ears last year. We subsequently featured the band on the podcast, which you can check out here. The band’s now back with a follow-up on the Dead Oceans label entitled Little Kingdom, whcih they are streaming in its entirety over at Virb. As you can hear, the band’s textured acoustic and electric guitar-driven compositions are in fine form on this album.
[audio:http://www.scjag.com/mp3/do/firstfantasy.mp3] Citay – “Final Fantasy” (mp3)Citay headlines at Cafe du Nord this Thursday, with The Oh Sees and Nurses. The show starts at 9pm and is $8.
