It’s been several years since we last heard any rumblings from Imperial Teen, the San Francisco indie-noise-pop band whose male-female vocals, smart wry lyrics and addictive melodic pop got them significant acclaim. The band’s last studio album On came out five years ago, but after reuniting earlier this year, they’ve released a new album titled the hair the tv the baby & the band on Merge Records. Now Imperial Teen’s embarking on a national tour to support the new record, which has been receiving some strong reviews, and they have two San Francisco performances this weekend.

According to their web site, which has an update on what everyone’s been up to since the band went on hiatus (hint: the new album title is a summary of sorts), two of the four members still live in the Bay Area, including Will Schwartz, who you may also know as the frontman of Hey Willpower, while the others reside in the Los Angeles area.

You can hear three songs from the new album at Imperial Teen’s MySpace page. Catch the band this Saturday night:

Saturday, September 29th
Bottom of the Hill
w/ Parker Brothers and Bella
9pm, $12

The band will also be playing at the Folsom Street Fair on Sunday at 4pm at the 12th Street Stage.
