If you follow non-local indie music at all, you might have heard about the Treasure Island Festival, a gathering of some of the world’s biggest indie bands that’s happening this weekend on, appropriately enough, Treasure Island. The out-of-town folks are sure to bring in the masses, but if you’re going this weekend, we encourage you to catch out some of the Bay Area’s up-and-comers who are playing as well. On Saturday that means Kid Beyond and our favorites Honeycut, while Sunday features performances from Two Gallants, Film School, Street to Nowhere, and Trainwreck Riders.

While we’re mentioning Film School, the LA-SF dark pop band released their latest full length Hideout earlier this week on Beggars Banquet Records. Hear four tracks from the new record at their MySpace page.
And if all of this isn’t enough, the TIF folks are throwing several nighttime shows as well. One in particular caught our eye: former featured band The Botticellis alongside fellow locals Minipop at The Mezzanine with headliner Grizzly Bear. That show starts at 9pm and is $18.
