If you picked up on a trend of increased upper-lip hair over the past month, you were witnessing Moustache May, a time of charitable moustache growing which our friends at Mesh discussed here and here. The good folks at 826 Valencia seized on the follicle fever to raise money for their wide variety of free writing programs for children. The Moustache-a-Thon found 18 “farmers” growing moustaches and raising over $10,000 from sponsors.
You can chart the moustache progress here and there’s still time to donate. 826 Valencia and The Onion are throwing a free party to thank the farmers this Tuesday night from 7-9pm at 12 Galaxies. The organizers promise “beer and a slideshow, a guest speaker and prizes, and of course, an unforgivable parade of the fundraising follicles.”
