In the evening, there are a number of great shows for you to check out with your afternoon buzz:
Or, the Whale
At Cafe du Nord, this week’s featured band Or, the Whale celebrates the record release party for their long-awaited debut album Light Poles and Pines. The show also features performances by Last of the Blacksmiths and Ledbetter and his Best Bet and should be an excellent night.
Over at the Make-Out Room, Bay Bridged alumni The Music Lovers headline, joined by pop stylings of The Hot Toddies and The Tartans. The headliners are in the final stages of completing their latest album Masculine, Feminine and you can read more about the record over at their MySpace blog.
At the Mezzanine, it’s the official MCMAF evening closing party and showcase for the Plug Research record label, the eclectic Los Angeles-based label known for experimental folk, electronic and hip-hop releases, including records from tonight’s performers Mia Doi Todd, Daedelus, and Flying Lotus. Also performing are San Francisco experimental folk-pop group Radius.
