Art and Music this week in Oakland

There’s a bunch of great stuff going on in Oakland this week:

On Thursday night, Kitchen Sink Magazine is holding a fundraising concert at the Uptown. Following on a successful show at the Edinburgh Castle in March, the arts and culture magazine is holding another party to raise money for the publication of its final issue. Tomorrow’s show features performances by locals Battleship, The Most, The Countless Others, and Trannysaurus Sex. The show starts at 9pm, is 21+, and is $5 at the door, but $10 or more gets you a back issue of Kitchen Sink.

The first Friday of the month is a great time to spend the evening in Oakland. Not only do you have the monthly Oakland Art Murmur, where some of the city’s best galleries celebrate new installations with public openings, but you’ve also got the First Fridays series of free concerts at the Stork Club. This week’s got a great show that features three of our favorites: The Dont’s, Black Fiction and Pillows. The show starts at 10pm, is 21+ and free.
