Despite it being a Sunday night, a packed house filled The Independent for two performances by The Comedians of Comedy, one of Noise Pop’s non-music highlights. Among a number of standout performances, San Francisco-based comedian Brent Weinbach delivered another absurd and unfailingly inspired set. Head on over to his web site to see clips of his performances and to hear selections from his 2006 CD Tales From the Brown Side. Weinbach’s MySpace page has all of his upcoming dates, including local shows at the Stork Club and the Punch Line. You should definitely check him out.
Although Weinbach was the only currently-local performer on the bill, the show was headlined by former San Francisco residents Patton Oswalt and Sonoma-raised Brian Posehn, both of whom spent years living in San Francisco during its early nineties comedy boom. Both comics expressed their love for the area to an appreciative crowd that, according to Oswalt, had surely ruined the next several shows by comparison.
