Hello again,

Over the weekend, we spoke with The Fucking Ocean, a band that draws from punk and post-punk influences to create songs that are intermittently screamy and melodic, and brimming with danceable energy. Equally important, though, is the social consciousness they express in their lyrics.

We spoke with Matt, Marcella, and John a few days prior to the release of their brand new CD, Le Main Rouge, and talked about writing the record, expressing political views lyrically, and their recent touring experiences. We chatted at their practice space in SoMa and our conversation is soundtracked by the bands in adjacent practice spaces.

In addition to the talk, we’ve included four songs from the new album, including an early recording of “Invisible Line.” For more information about purchasing the album, head over to Double Negative Records and stay on top of the band’s MySpace page and currently under construction web site for more details.

We’re also excited about their record release show on Thursday, which promises to be a lot of fun. Details below:

Thursday, November 16th
Bottom of the Hill
9pm, with Kid 606 & Friends and Warbler
$8

Thanks again for listening and we’ll hope to see you back here next week!
