Experimental folk duo Yesway to release debut LP

Ever had that experience of waking up in the middle of a wondrous dream, the vivid colors still swirling around your half-conscious brain as you groggily grope in the dark for the snooze button on your alarm clock, your perception of reality completely shattered for a few blessed moments?  That's kinda what listening to Yesway feels like.  Their music, like a dream, is equal parts seductively haunting and alluringly gorgeous, balancing harmonic dissonance with compelling melodies.  And, again like a dream, you can never quite guess where the song is going to take you. They will be releasing a new single "Video Star", the first release from the band’s forthcoming debut album, due in Spring 2013. Listen to three Bells demo tracks below (via Bandcamp). BELLS' [...]

Night Genes' CD release party: Wednesday, 2/8, with Tidelands and Yesway

San Francisco folk outfit Night Genes will be having their CD release party at Café Du Nord this Wednesday, February 8th, in celebration of their sophomore effort. Like the Blood follows their 2009 debut, Two Phantoms & A Holy Ghost. The band claims the new record “moves past mortality into rebirth, inquiring into the idea of evolution and progress from one generation to the next.” We think Boise native Eric Ingersoll’s baritone sounds a bit more Matt Berninger than Bill Callahan on the latest. Night Genes - "Soaring Through the Chromosomes" Two other local bands open: Tidelands and Yesway, the [...]
