New Wallpaper track: 'Puke My Brains Out'

Ever woken up — on a stranger's couch, or hardwood floor, surrounded by empty beer cans and cigarette butts — surprised to be alive? Listening to Oakland-based Wallpaper, you would be forgiven for getting the impression that Eric Frederic has. Frederic is the lead singer and songwriter for the East Bay party-pop outfit, and with lyrics like, "I'm throwing up in the bathroom stall/I feel so much, and feel nothing at all," and an entire album entitled #STUPiDFACEDD, it isn't hard to imagine the former Facing New York frontman face down in a toilet bowl, which, incidentally, is where we [...]

Video: Wallpaper. on Jimmy Kimmel Live, 3/23/12 show at Rickshaw Stop

Bay Area party-R&B group Wallpaper. (led by Eric Frederic) made their live television debut last week, performing the trashy, 80s influenced new track "Best Song Everr." The song is pure cheese — the synths sound like they were stolen from a 3OH!3 b-side and the goofball chorus transitions from pop-punk whine ("this song is like the best song ever") to Miami rap chants of "Ay! Ay! Ay!" You won't want to miss the group's timeless pink glow-in-the-dark outfits either. If you want more, Wallpaper. is playing on 3/23 at the Rickshaw with A-1, Parentz, and DJ Jaysonik (Hottub). Wallpaper. took a pass at Local Native's "Stranger Things," and from the great results I almost hope to hear that their sophomore release is a dance record. Stems from their fantastic 2009 debut Gorilla Manor are available on this site right now to download, remix and repost. So far there are remixes by Blackbird Blackbird, Banjo or Freakout and more! Enjoy your weekends, folks. Stranger Things (Wallpaper Remix) by Local Natives

A Bay Area electronic pop mixtape, featuring Blackbird Blackbird, Electric Sunset, oOoOO, and more (Podcast #235)

A Bay Area Electronic Pop Mixtape (Podcast #235) In compiling this mix of new and recent music from eleven San Francisco Bay Area-based artists, I've searched in vain for a singular theory to explain the recent proliferation of local electronic pop. Does the tech-heavy business climate here mean techier indie musicians, geeking out on synth sequencing and effects? Or are the Bay's bedroom pop songwriters employing more electronics as it continues to get easier to manipulate software synths to create satisfying layers of sound? Most likely, there's no single answer to explain the catchy melodies and experimental approaches employed by [...]
