Dr. Octagon, performing as a trio, coming to the Fillmore

He's wacky, he's unpredictable, he's Kool Keith. The experimental rapper can be seen performing at the Fillmore on February 18 under his breakout persona, Dr. Octagon. He'll be joined at the show by his Dr. Octagon collaborators Dan The Automator and DJ Qbert. Though the group's first and only official release, Dr Octagonecologyst, was back in 1996, fans continue to hang on to the novelty of the album. The record finds Kool Keith playing an extraterrestrial surgeon who raps about his psychedelic professional experiences over trip-hop inspired beats. Noise Pop has a focus on the indie rock slant of things, but if whoever was smart enough to book Mike Relm and Kool Keith as co-headliners for Thursday night was a genius.
